Visit of a Member of the State Parliament
17.11.2023
Sandra Boser, a Green Party Member of the State Parliament and State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport, visits us.
Following a visit to the Mayor of Wolfach, Sandra Boser also stopped by to see us. Our management team – Edeltraud Syllwasschy and Michael Gleich – gave the politician’s group a tour of our production areas.
In the injection moulding shop, the guests were able to see how robust casings for our ballpoint pens are created from molten plastic. It became clear just how consistently we focus on resource-efficient processes. It was explained that virtually no waste is produced during manufacturing and that we place great emphasis on regional supply chains. All our machines are manufactured in Germany, and even components that we do not produce ourselves are sourced primarily from the region.
The tour also highlighted how deeply recycling is embedded in our production: the proportion of new granulate is just 40 per cent. At the same time, we ensure that energy is used as efficiently as possible – an important contribution to the sustainable use of resources.
Another item on the agenda was a tour of our pencil lead production facility. In the laboratory, visitors were able to see the testing machine used to test every lead. The average writing length is around 3,000 metres – though many of our leads write for significantly longer.
The tour concluded with a visit to our print shop, where the group was given an overview of the wide range of finishing options and our product range. She was impressed by our company’s commitment to sustainability and expressed her thanks for the informative insight into our work.
